Kew Green Prep has just opened a well-equipped co-educational nursery for ages 2+ a short walk from the main school

Kew Green Prep School has recently opened Kew Green Nursery. The nursery is co-educational and takes girls and boys from age 2 to 4. Located at 85 Kew Green, a short walk from the main school, it is on a large site with plenty of room for outdoor play, and light and colourful indoor spaces to keep young minds engaged.

Both indoor and outdoor spaces are designed to provoke a sense of wonder and excitement and include bespoke areas for role play, art and construction and sand and water play. The large conservatory can be opened to integrate indoor and outdoor learning spaces and extra features in the forest school-inspired design include a mini forest, climbing frame, large mud kitchen and specially designed vegetable garden. There’s also a reading wall and places for quiet time. The building has a a creative studio for specialist learning and mini-classrooms to support older nursery pupils with the transition to Reception.

Kew Green Prep is part of Gardener Schools Group and, as with other schools in the group, there’s an ‘open door’ policy to foster strong parent partnerships. The nursery includes a café to be used by parents, staff and members of the public in order to strengthen the sense of community.

Kew Green Nursery Head and DSL is Chantal Baard, who has a Montessori Diploma and a BA in Early Years’ Teaching and Learning from Kingston. “I am passionate about the Early Years and constantly strive to provide the best possible learning environment for the children at Kew Green Nursery,” she says.
