Cameron Vale School in Chelsea recently welcomed Alison Melrose as its new Headmistress. Its little sister, The Chelsea Nursery, also has a new Head of Nursery in Lara Van Romburgh.
Alison Melrose has held a variety of roles across London prep schools, accumulating over 25 years’ experience in the education sector. She was founding head of Prince’s Garden Preparatory School in Kensington and led Broomwood Hall, Garrad’s Road, for eight years. “Cameron Vale appealed to me not only for its excellent reputation, but also for its family feel and incredibly inspiring ethos and values,” she says. “I will continue to build on Cameron Vale’s academic success and I’m keen to develop the five school values with a multi-purpose ‘C Lab’, to support the key skills in being courageous, curious, collaborative, creative and critical thinkers.”
Lara Van Romburgh, the new lead at The Chelsea Nursery joins with extensive experience in a variety of roles, including teaching, mentoring and running her own nursery. The nursery, has recently added a new baby room for children from six months – designed as a home from home and with a focus on learning through play. “Joining the nursery at such an exciting time, as it opens its new Baby Room, is such a wonderful opportunity,” she says. “We understand that it can be difficult for parents to send their babies and children to nursery at a young age, which is why we have made sure to give the baby room a truly family feel, helping the babies and parents feel comfortable in their new surroundings.”
Cameron Vale and The Chelsea Nursery are located on the same site in The Vale, just off King’s Road, SW3. Both prep and nursery are part of Forfar Education, led by CEO John Forsyth. Forfar owns and manages eight independent schools and nurseries across the UK.
