Heathfield School has opened its purpose-built Cadogan Sixth Form, an event attended by two very special alumna
Heathfield School has opened its new Sixth Form. The Hon Mrs George Cadogan – Heathfield old girl Davina Motion, who recently married George Cadogan – opened the new purpose built Cadogan Sixth Form at the beginning of the autumn term. She was joined by another alumna, Sports Journalist of the Year Laura Lambert.
The new building offers learning and breakout spaces for the school’s new Sixth Form Programme. Heathfield offers over 20 subjects at A Level, and with an extensive co-curricular programme. In the first half of the Lower Sixth, students follow a leadership course and a goal setting seminar. Then they embark on Pathways and Horizons Programmes. Pathways offers a choice of Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs), Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Maths for Scientists, and an International English Language (IELT) qualification. Horizons offers study of topics such as decoding language, dystopian fiction and a study of the film La Haine. During Upper Sixth, students continue to benefit from time management and mentoring programmes.
“This project has taken several years to come to fruition,” says Headmistress Sarah Wilson. “Our students will be able to study, learn, meet mentors, develop their soft skills in one of our two presentation areas, and transition effectively into higher education and the working world.”
