Francis Holland School, Sloane Square welcomed a new Head, Alexandra Haydon, at the start of January

Alexandra Haydon became Head of Francis Holland School, Sloane Square from January 2024, succeeding Lucy Elphinstone.

The new Head of FHS Sloane Square was formerly Deputy Head, Academic at Millfield and her career includes time at St Mary’s Calne, Wiltshire, as Head of Science and latterly Senior Teacher. She has worked at a variety of schools and began her teaching career in the state sector at Graveney School in Wandsworth.

With a specialism in science teaching, Alexandra Haydon has a BSc from Durham and a PCGE and Masters in Teaching and Learning from Oxford. In 2019 she won the i25 award for innovation and influence in the independent sector, and she was shortlisted in 2016 for the National Joan Sjovoll Award for STEM leadership.

Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I am committed to upholding the School’s tradition of excellence in education and fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where all girls can thrive”.

Chairman of the Council for Francis Holland Schools Trust, Patrick Sherrington, said: “We look forward to working with her in moving the School forward, building on the legacy of the past, to ensure that Francis Holland Sloane Square continues to be a beacon of light for girls’ education in London and beyond”.
