Bromley High School GDST has introduced a new phase for Years 5-8 to support girls’ development

Bromley High School has introduced a Middle School phase for Year 5-8 to support the primary to secondary transition. The GDST through school says that this is designed to counteract the decreased self-esteem often experienced by girls moving up to senior level. Its new personalised approach aims to alleviate anxiety and give every pupil a clear flight path for learning and personal development.

“Innovation for us isn’t about mere tokenism; it’s about meaningful change,” says Emily Rushton, Assistant Headteacher (Middle School). “We want to ensure that our girls feel supported and empowered throughout their educational journey.”

Headmistress Emily Codling adds: “Our Middle School isn’t just about academic advancement; it’s about nurturing a sense of sisterhood and belonging that extends across all years. We’re proud to be at the forefront of this initiative. By prioritising girls’ education in this way, we’re not just preparing them for the future; we’re shaping it”.
