Moira Davies, a highly experienced career coach and career development advisor, has been appointed Head of Careers and Higher Education at King Edward’s Witley.

Moira Davies graduated with a Law degree from the University of Kent and qualified as a solicitor working at a top 10 legal firm in London. She lived overseas for 17 years during which time she retrained as a French teacher, working at the internationally renowned Alliance Francaise before taking up the role as Head of French at a leading independent boys-only high school in Zimbabwe. The latter position sparked an interest in career guidance. Moira Davies established a career guidance programme for the School which included supporting students in their O-level and A-level choices; assisting them with their undergraduate options and applications; facilitating monthly careers events and annual careers fairs and networking with global universities and colleges to ensure all students were able to make informed decisions. She also provided specialist 1:1 coaching sessions to students on careers and higher education opportunities. She went on to become a career development advisor at a renowned university in Mauritius, which specialises in individualised learning for young leaders and entrepreneurs.

Trained in the delivery of Morrisby Profiling and DISC assessment tools, Moira Davies also holds a Level 5 Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching, a Certificate in School Leadership from the British Council and a Certificate in Career Guidance from Education USA. Since returning to the UK, she has been running her own business as an independent Career Coach, coaching young people and returning-to-work mothers. 

Commenting on her appointment at King Edward’s Witley, Mrs Davies said, “My experience in international schools and university environments with a diverse range of pupils represents a good match for my role at King Edward’s Witley. My varied employment history has afforded first-hand experience in the benefits of professional and insightful career guidance. King Edward’s offers an exciting and challenging curriculum with the option to follow either the IB or A-level route to secure the qualifications required for entry to university or the world of work.

“Academic attainment is balanced with a strong focus on ensuring all pupils leave the School as well-rounded, self-aware, able and responsible citizens with a clear vision of the numerous opportunities available and their potential to make a positive personal contribution to society. I will be building on the strong foundation put in place by my predecessor, encouraging career guidance to be integrated into the academic and co-curriculum programme as well as offering personal guidance on career pathways and higher education choices. My overall message to the pupils will be: With the advent of AI, no-one can be sure what the future of work will look like so it is important to be open-minded and above all, be curious. To make informed decisions about your future you need to understand yourself first and research all opportunities because you never know where they may lead.”
