Rugby School is set to open in Lagos, Nigeria this September beginning with a sixth form and located on a purpose-built site

Dr Adam England is founding Principal of Rugby School Nigeria, opening on a purpose-built campus in Lagos’ Eko Atlantic City. He was previously Director General of Ecole International Ruban Vert in Libreville, Gabon.  Rugby School Nigeria opens its sixth form this September and, thanks to progress on construction, will also welcome Year 7 (11+) this September.

The sixth form curriculum will mirror Rugby School’s academic approach, with a wide range of A levels, alongside programmes in sport, arts, leadership and enrichment. This approach is designed to ensure academic success and equip students for entry into higher education at the world’s top universities. The opening of Rugby School Nigeria marks a significant milestone in Rugby School’s mission to expand further its educational philosophy and values on an international stage. It opened sister schools in Thailand in 2017 and Japan in 2023.

Strategically adjacent to Victoria Island, Eko Atlantic City offers accessible transport, reliable utilities and ocean-side surroundings, creating a secure and modern urban space. Rugby says it is grateful for the support of the Board of Eko Atlantic in bringing to life its third international sister school. “We are thrilled to bring our educational expertise to Nigeria, a country rich in culture, talent and ambition where we have enjoyed strong ties for many decades. Rugby School Nigeria will embody the values, boarding ethos and standards that have defined Rugby School for centuries while embracing the opportunities of its dynamic location in Africa,” says Nick Bacon, Chairman of the Governing Body of Rugby School.
