Malvern College cricketer goes pro

Exciting young cricket talent Charlie Taylor has signed his first professional contract while still at Malvern College

Charlie Taylor (16), a pupil at Malvern College is celebrating signing his first professional contract with Warwickshire Cricket Club. He has already been tipped as one of the most exciting young cricketers in the country, having been selected for the England U19 squad at the age of just 15.

The young bowler has signed a two-year rookie contract, which came into effect in July and will then be extended by a full-time professional contract until the end of the 2028 season. Having grown up just inside the Warwickshire border, he began his cricketing journey at the age of seven with Alcester & Ragley Cricket Club, where he progressed through every junior age group and went on to represent the club across senior cricket.

His cricket development has been supported by expert coaching both at Malvern College and within Warwickshire’s professional setup, where he trains alongside former professionals and elite players. “I’m incredibly proud and excited to have signed with Warwickshire. It’s something I’ve worked towards for a long time, and I’m really grateful to my family, coaches and everyone at Malvern College for their support along the way. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can and pushing myself to improve in the years ahead,” he says.

“We are delighted for Charlie – this is just reward for all the hard work he has put in over many years,” says Malvern College Director of Sport Mark Hardinges. “We look forward to supporting him in any way possible to help him make the most of this opportunity.”
