Reddam House play award

Reddam House in Berkshire has received a top award for the quality of its approach to play and learning

Reddam House Berkshire has been awarded a Platinum grade by OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning), meaning it is within the top one percent of primary schools nationally for play provision. Head Rick Cross says the award: “reflects our belief that children learn just as much beyond the classroom walls as they do within them”.

“We are fortunate to have extensive outdoor space and facilities which allow our pupils to explore, create, collaborate and challenge themselves through play every day, embracing the outdoors as a key part of school life,” he adds.

The Wokingham day and boarding school, which educates children from early years to 18, has invested heavily in ensuring the best possible environment for play opportunities. “Over the past two years, we have transformed our environment into one that offers adventurous, imaginative and inclusive play opportunities for all children, and the impact has been remarkable, not only in the playground but across wellbeing, confidence, behaviour and relationships throughout the school community,” adds Rick Cross.
