Three St Clare’s, Oxford students hosted an evening of TEDx talks on wide-ranging topics

Three IB Diploma students at St Clare’s, Oxford hosted a TEDx evening of talks with the theme ‘Questioning the Norm’. Tina Tafur, Amelia Griffith and Ava May Simon selected student speakers with topics ranging from the importance of saying ‘no’ to how maths could solve global challenges.

Speaking ahead of the event to explain why they chose this theme, the three students said: “We live in a world in which we tend to easily conform to others, situations and norms, which makes it hard to challenge reality and question why society works the way it does. Subject areas such as Maths, Psychology, and Art, have different viewpoints towards our reality. Despite different perspectives not often being discussed, it is significantly important to start speaking up one’s points of view to embrace diversity, celebrate difference, and foster open-minded global citizens.’“

The videos are on TEDx Talks’ YouTube channel.
