First class at Felsted

Essex independent school Felsted is adding a new pre-school class at the start of the next academic year

The first ever class of three-year-olds will join Felsted School in September 2026, when the school’s new Pre-Reception opens. The early learners will join the Pre-Prep department of the co-ed independent in north Essex in a learning environment purpose-designed for the age group and can participate in morning or full-day sessions.

Early Years teachers will gently introduce the skills of early reading and writing, as well as engaging children in activities and experiences, including shared storytelling, outdoor exploration and creative arts. Learning sessions with subject specialist teachers, such as PE, swimming and Forest School, are designed to further develop children’s co-ordination and confidence, while music and rhythmic activities will help with listening, timing and body awareness.
