Queen Ethelburga’s College has been named Independent School of the Year for Academic Excellence in the North

Queen Ethelburga’s College, part of Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate, has. been named Independent School of the Year for Academic Excellence in the North by The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026 for the fifth year running.  The associated league table puts it first in the north for both GCSE and A-level results and it ranks in 6th place across the whole UK among co-ed independent schools for A*/A results at A level,

QE is also doubling down on its elite sport development with the appointment of two additional UEFA A licensed lead football coaches – Former England U21 international and professional striker Matt Derbyshire and FA and para football specialist Sam Sharman.  And building on the Collegiate’s strength in high-level cricket, Shrikant Wagh (pictured top) is the Lead Cricket Coach, working alongside Dan Ranasinghe.
