Concord College students are celebrating a double win in the Imperial College Science of Medicine competition
Concord College students celebrated a double win in the Imperial College Science in Medicine competition. Teams from Concord won both the Heart Category with their “Optogenetic Pacemaker” project and the Lung Category with the “Air Patch”, which is designed to help with asthma care.
The Imperial College prize, which has been running for five years, is designed to encourage students to stretch beyond the school curriculum, think beyond traditional biomedical fields and consider the excitement of undertaking pioneering medical research. This year, there were specific prizes for work related to heart, lung autoimmune and rheumatic diseases plus a global health category relating to impacts of climate change.
Concord College has a strong track record in this competition, along with other national competitions, including the Physics and Mathematics Olympiads, Student Investor Challenge and Bar Mock Trial Competition.
